RED SQUIRREL TREAT. So, given stormy conditions today I nearly ducked out of any walking – but as is so often the case, the totally unexpected happened and I was so glad I forced myself out. The unexpected event was a red squirrel viewing and then encounter, as this beautiful creature seemed as interested in me as I was in him. Photos show just how close he was – within touching distance. Absolutely no concern for my being there – and it was amazing watching him trying to get at a nut caught in a piece of wood.
The rest of the walk was lovely too – I will definitely include this on my ‘to do soon’ list – Borthwood Copse and over to Alverstone and back – around 4 miles, and with a 15-minute squirrel interlude, around 2 hours.
