THE BARNSLEY TRAIL

THE BARNSLEY TRAIL

DISTANCE-3.5 miles| DIFFICULTY-Easy | TIME-3 hours .

The Barnsley Trail walk has several things going for it.

  1. Starts and ends at a pub – formerly The Wishing Well but now The Isle of Wight Distillery aka Mermaid Gin. It’s still a pub (real ale as well as gin!) and is lovely inside and out so if its fine we could have a drink on outside with fine views of route we’ll have just done.
  2. It’s nice mixture of rural and coastal walking (a little muddy in places) – if we’re at Seagrove Bay at low tide we’ll be treated to amazing rock formations and shells.
  3. Easy walking but with lots of local interesting information.
  4. Plenty of car parking space. No. 8 bus drops you off right by the start.
  5. I enjoyed this walk more than I thought I was going to!

Always magnificent especially at low tide where fabulous rock pools emerge. The cliff faces and rock formations are breathtaking – especially ‘that building’ teetering on the very edge’ ..!
